Community Involvement

Town and Country is committed to serving the local communities.  The credit union philosophy of people-helping-people can be seen in the following partial list of community involvement:

• Ending Hunger Now
  This is the primary statewide charity for the Maine Credit Union League. Each year the credit union holds many fundraising activities for the cause and regularly ranks in the top three in the state for total funds raised.  
• United Way
  The credit union encourages employees to set up weekly deductions for contributions to the United Way and makes a corporate donation each year. 
• Adopt a Family
  Each year the credit union adopts two or three needy local families for the Christmas season.  Employees raise funds for the purpose of purchasing gifts, food and extra cash with the hope of making these families Christmas season brighter.  
• South Portland Triad
  This is a joint effort to bring together seniors, South Portland Police and the South Portland community to enhance the quality of life and improve safety for seniors residing in South Portland. Town & Country Federal Credit Union makes an annual donation to this cause.
• WMGX Food Drive
  The credit union collects food during this annual food drive in concert with the Alex Ferguson Chapter of Credit Unions and the Ending Hunger Campaign.
• Holy Cross Food Pantry
  Each year Town & Country Federal Credit Union donates a portion of the money raised from Ending Hunger Now to this food pantry in South Portland. Past donations have helped the pantry build a handicapped-accessible ramp and purchase a new freezer.
• St. John the Evangelist Womens Council
  Town & Country Federal Credit Union has donated monetary gifts to the council to help them in their spring and fall raffles. All proceeds from this event go to St. Johns church to assist in their ongoing programs.
• Holy Cross Catholic School Olympics of the Mind
  Town & Country Federal Credit Union has made donations to help send teams from the school to the national Olympics of the Mind.
• Flu Shot Clinics
  The credit union has provided a Flu Shot Clinic in the fall (when shots are available) in each of its branch offices.   In some years, the clinic has had one of the highest turnouts in the Greater Portland area. 
• Team Sponsorships
  Town & Country Federal Credit Union regularly sponsors sports teams from the area, including local Little League teams. The credit union also sponsors the Scarborough 4v4 Lobster Classic Soccer Tournament and Casco Bay Youth Hockey. 
• Golf Tournament Fundraisers
  Town & Country participates in many golf tournaments that raise funds for various charitable causes.
• Community Employee Involvement
  Employees are involved in the local Chambers of Commerce, the South Portland Waterfront Market Association, and many other community groups throughout the Greater Portland area.
