Town & Country Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative. We are committed to building solid, long-term relationships with our members, and we're here to help you save and invest for tomorrow.
By putting our members first and keeping deposits here in Maine, Town & Country remains financially strong, secure, and continues to grow. We understand the dreams and goals you have for your family—we share those same dreams, and we're committed to helping you reach them by providing an unmatched level of financial value and superior service.
Our history dates back to 1953. Parishioners of St. John's Catholic Church established Town & Country as St. John's Federal Credit Union to serve the deposit and investment needs of Maine and its people. At the time, membership included parishioners from Evans Street in South Portland to the Scarborough border.
As the credit union grew in deposits, so did the location. Beginning in the basement of a church, it moved to the home of its first leaders, then to the neighborhood ice cream parlor, and finally to the present main office, constructed in 1976. Shortly thereafter, several mergers with other credit unions helped to lay the foundation for a solid membership pool.
In 1986, the board of directors approved the name change to Town & Country Federal Credit Union to better represent our field of membership. Since then we have grown to over 25,000 members, including anyone who lives or works in Cumberland County and York County, Maine. We're proud of our rich history of helping our membership base achieve their financial goals, and look forward to continuing our mission in the state of Maine.
