At Town & Country, being a better neighbor means standing alongside organizations that strengthen lives and communities every day. Through our Better Neighbor Fund, which is part of our larger ‘local helping local’ initiative, we’re proud to support Sweetser, a Maine-based nonprofit that provides critical mental health services for children, adults, and families across the state.
In 2025, Town & Country awarded nearly $30,000 in Better Neighbor Fund grants including a $3,500 grant to Sweetser, as determined by a month-long vote in October.
Sweetser’s work reaches people at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives—offering counseling, crisis support, community-based care, and pathways to stability and hope. Their impact is felt not just by individuals, but by families, schools, and entire communities.
Support from the Better Neighbor Fund helps Sweetser continue this essential work, ensuring resources are available where and when they’re needed most.
“Because of the support from Town & Country, over 12,000 Maine children and adults facing mental health and substance-use challenges found the support they needed to heal and survive. The generosity of Town & Country has changed lives,” wrote Jodie Hansen, Director of Development at Sweetser, in a thank-you note to the credit union.

The Better Neighbor Fund reflects our belief that financial well-being and community well-being go hand in hand, and that together, we can create lasting, positive change.
