Maine Needs

Local Helping Local Partner Spotlight

On a cold Thursday morning in February, members of the Town & Country team rolled up their sleeves and got to work at Maine Needs in Portland — a grassroots non-profit dedicated to providing essential items to individuals and families across Maine.

Our team joined in, packing kits filled with warm clothing, personal care items, and everyday essentials — small but meaningful supplies that make an immediate difference in someone’s life. In just a few hours, dozens of kits were assembled, each one destined to support a neighbor in need.

In addition to volunteering, Town & Country provided a $500 contribution to Maine Needs. That funding will help purchase additional supplies, ensuring shelves remain stocked and ready to respond when local service organizations request support for clients.

Maine Needs operates on a simple but powerful premise: when basic needs are met, people can focus on building stability and opportunity. Access to clean clothing, warm bedding, or hygiene products can restore dignity and reduce stress during some of life’s most difficult moments.

That belief aligns closely with Town & Country’s long-standing philosophy of ‘Local Helping Local’. “Local Helping Local isn’t just something we say — it’s who we are,” said David Libby, President and CEO of Town & Country. “For generations, Town & Country has been committed to strengthening the communities we serve. When we partner with organizations like Maine Needs, we’re investing in our neighbors and in the long-term wellbeing of Maine families.”

By combining volunteer time with financial support, Town & Country aimes to maximize its impact. The $500 donation will allow Maine Needs to continue purchasing high-demand items and responding quickly when partner agencies submit urgent requests.

“At Town & Country, we believe strong communities are built when neighbors step up for neighbors,” Libby added. “We’re proud to support Maine Needs and encourage others to learn more about their mission and find ways to get involved.”

To support Maine Needs, volunteer, make a donation, or learn more about how you can help meet essential needs across Maine.

Because when local helps local, everyone moves forward together.
